My Little Gatester

Saturday, I had my youngest Grandson, Gates, for the day and as usual it was action packed. Some neighbors have goats so we visited them after we read The Billy Goats Gruff.
A game of baseball with PopPop was in order. Notice Gates is batting right handed.

The next pitch he is batting left handed. So we may have a future Mickey Mantle/ switch hitter on our hands.

Gates, loves, loves, loves him some water. Saturday he devised this extension to the watering can. Believe me the plants were watered and rewatered many times.

Gates and Nana had a golf game. Here he is raising his hand to the "gallery" saying "Thank you, thank you" for their imaginary applause.

He did not need my help choosing the right club.

In between his other sports activities he was "Farmer Fred" working on his tractor. I went and got a notepad to record our conversation.
"I'm Farmer Fred, what your name Farmer Girl?"
"Farmer Girl."
"No your real name"
"Farmer Fran"
"Okay, Farmer Fran, let's go to work and then we play golf."
"What you writing Farmer Fran?" "You makin a list for me?"
"Write down....tractor....dig....mow grass...rake....find animals...play golf...that all."
"Then I go at church"
"I think that it"
"You got dat down?"
"Good morning, Farmer Fran" "I am the best farmer in the world"
"What are you doing, Farmer Fred?"
"I'm putting poison on the tractor."
"What for?"
"Make it go really, really, fast. Super dooper, dooper fast. Police not catch me now!"
Later he entertained the whole family with his impression of Uncle Dudley the worship leader at his church. I wish I had a video!
Grandchildren......never a dull or serious moment!

More Fun Than a Barrel of Monkeys

We kept number 3 grandson, Gates, over the weekend. He sure brings out the silly in Pop Pop and me. Some how our red table napkins inspired PP to turn into Red Riding Hood.
Which of course inspired Gates to do the same. I wish you could here Gates' dialog.
"What big eyes you have, dearie!"

Here is The evil Dr. Gates giving his PP a shot in the mouth. (I think his recent trip to the dentist inspired this!)

Of course, our multi talented Grand son, is also a vet. So He had to listen to Scouts, uh heart.

Nana comes up with another winning idea. Play football with the players who came from his Daddy's and his birthday cakes. We had to improvise with play dough to make the goal posts stand up.
I've asked Santa to bring a real goal post to our house for the boys to play with like their Daddies had. We'll see, he said.
If you need a huge dose of laughter, I'll just come over with Gates and we'll get you goin'.

The Perfect Gatester

Another Perfect Day......this time with the Grand Gatester. I hadn't seen him for a couple weeks so I needed my dose of silliness. We stopped by the Pig Man's on our way to my house. Now there are four small pigs, and about a dozen big pigs. The goats were goaty....one huge one with big horns reminding me of The Billy Goats Gruff. ( I don't have that book so I went to Burry Bookstore to purchase it. No could do. Amazon here I come.) This time there was a hen in a cage, cackling away, I think she said, "let me out, let me out!" The Rooster said, "Stay and Lay, Stay and Lay!"
Gates had a busy day planned for me. He seems to remember everything we have ever done while he was visiting and then he puts them on the agenda for today's visit.
  • First off, clean out the sandbox. (For no reason I can see.)
  • Baseball, Nana bat, Gates pitch; Gates bat, Nana pitch. Running the bases is a must. I did have a home run but he declared me out.
  • Read Cinderella. Read Three Pigs; two different copies.
  • Eat Yum Yum.....wearing his carpenter apron he got at Lowes.
  • Play football....tackle not touch! Oh, can he tackle.....and pass and imitate the ref's on a foul.
  • Play Golf....this 3 year old hit every ball at least 20 yards playing with clubs 3 sizes too big.
  • And Basketball....he has all the moves....dribble, behind the back shot...too cute!
  • A little husbandry.....get the babies out...walk them in the stroller 9 seconds....get on his car...and "go to work" (play set of car keys put in pocket when he gets off his car)
  • water Nana's plants and whatever else is around
  • rake the yard (make a pile of straw for jumping into on touchdowns)
  • sweep the drive....Nana managed to run the Skill saw and cut down a broom so he would have his own
  • have an ice cream cone (outside, Nana)

Well, that was another perfect day for me.....what about you? If you need a 3 year old, I might can find one to lend you.
